Affidavit concerning the Mountain Meadows Massacre, 1896, June 29.

Facsimile of an affidavit made by Daniel S. MacFarlane regarding the events of the Mountain Meadows Massacre. McFarlane writes that he arrived with a volunteer company to help bury bodies while "the Indians were still fighting the Immigrants." He describes conversations between John D. Lee, John M. Higbee, and Philip Klingensmith regarding how to proceed in their treatment of the Indians and immigrants. McFarlane's account is vague and may have been intended to exonerate Higbee.
